Brief Introduction
The Aga Khan Portugal Foundation (AKF Prt) is an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) that brings together a group of profitable and non-profit organizations, which work to improve the conditions and quality of life of the most vulnerable populations , especially in Africa and Asia, regardless of their origin, gender or religion. Each agency carries out its own mandate and they all work together within the Network so that their different activities interact and reinforce each other. The interventions are designed to add value and critical mass to the economic, social and cultural development of each region, both in rural areas and in urban areas.
In Portugal the Foundation works in action research in areas such as childhood development, education, civil society, economic inclusion and seniors. The work methodology is based on enhancing networks for the development, implementation, sharing and expansion of innovative solutions and models. The Foundation focuses on specific development challenges, through intellectual and financial partnerships with public, private and civil society organizations that share its objectives.
